Twelve Years of Christmas Cards

Since 2004, I have been illustrating my own Christmas cards, to send to friends and family.  They have evolved over the years, so I thought it would be fun to show them all together. Below are all the card designs I have done, starting with the newest 2015 design.

2015

This card illustration is completely digital. It was created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.  I tried to create a card with a retro 1950s feel, by using a limited, non-traditional color palette.

2014

This card illustration is completely digital. It was created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

2013

This card was painted in watercolors. The imagery was inspired by an old Christmas photograph of my siblings and mother.

2012

This year I created two card designs. The bird card was done traditionally, using acrylic paint. The Santa card was originally created for a mug design. It is digital, using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter.

2011

Another year with two card designs.  Both were done digitally, using Photoshop, Illustrator and Painter.

2010

The card for 2010 was done in acrylic on paper.

2009

The subject matter of this card was suggested to my by my friend Sarah.  The card was done using watercolors.

2008

This card is a mixture of traditional and digital. The dark outlines were done in ink on paper. I then scanned the lines in and added the color using Corel Painter.

2007

I created two card designs in 2007. The top, with the snowman, is still one of my favorites.  Both were done using colored pencil on paper.

2006

This card illustration was done in watercolor and ink.  The stars and halo were printed using gold foil.

2005

This card was done in watercolors and ink.

2004

The top card was my first Christmas card. It was created using colored pencils on paper.  A few years later, I recreated the design digitally using Corel Painter.
